Princess Cut Blouse Farma: What Makes It Different

Princess cut blouse farma explained: how shaping seams replace extra darts, why the fit depends on your upper chest, and how to order a custom-fit pattern.

Princess Cut Blouse Farma: What Makes It Different

A princess cut blouse is shaped by seams, not extra darts. How the pattern works, who it suits and what to check before you order the farma.

A princess cut blouse gets its shape from long seams that run over the bust, not from extra darts. When it is cut well the blouse follows the body smoothly. When it is cut badly the seams pull and the bust sits in the wrong place. This guide explains how the pattern works and what to check before you order a princess cut farma.

How a princess cut is built

In a plain blouse the bust is shaped by darts. In a princess cut the front is split into panels, and the seams between them are curved so that they take in the shaping. The seam starts at the shoulder or the armhole, passes over the fullest part of the bust and runs down to the hem.

Why placement matters so much

Because the seam passes over the bust, the pattern has to know where the bust is. If the seam sits even a little off, the blouse creases diagonally and looks unfinished. That is why a princess cut fits well only when it is drafted from your own measurements, with the upper chest deciding the neck, shoulder and armhole, and the bust measurement deciding the curve over the bust.

Who it suits

  • Anyone who wants a close, tailored fit without visible darts.
  • Customers who find a plain dart blouse pulls across the bust.
  • Blouses made in plain or lightly printed fabric, where the panel seams can be seen and appreciated.

On a heavily patterned fabric the seams are hard to see, and a simple three dart blouse may be a better choice.

Princess cut models we make

Our range includes princess cut blouses in several neck combinations, with and without a belt - for example a boat neck at the back with a deep neck at the front. Browse them on the blouse cutting farma page.

Before you order

  • Measure over the undergarment you will wear with the blouse. See how to measure for a blouse pattern.
  • Enter every measurement the form asks for. A princess cut uses more of them than a basic blouse.
  • Choose the neck you want in the configurator.

If your measurements fall outside our drafting chart we call you instead of guessing. You can read how a custom blouse farma is made in our blouse cutting farma guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is a princess cut harder to stitch?

It has more seams to join, and the curved ones need patience. The notches printed on the farma help you match the panels.

Does a princess cut need darts?

Not extra ones. The seams do the shaping.
